Stipendiary, Stipendarie, adj. [e.m.E. stipendary (1540), stipendiary (c1545), f. as Stipendiar,n.] Of a church minister: That receives a stipend from a source other than the congregation or parish he serves. — c1650 Spalding II 291.

And if a town or parish resolve to make a second minister when they are not patrons, this is called a stipendiary minister
