Southest, adv., n. and adj. Also: southe-, southt-, souht-, sowth-, sowtht-, soith-, suth- and -este, -eist, -east. [ME and e.m.E. souþest (1297), south est (14th c.), sowthe este (a1450), southeast (1548), OE súðéast.]
A. adv. To the south-east, in a south-easterly direction. Also quasi-prep. c1475 Wall. ix 62.
