Scandaliz(e, -is(e, -ese, -eis, v. Also: scandil-, skandilize, scandelise. [e.m.E. scandalyze (Caxton), OF escandalizier, scandalizer (1190 and 13th c. in Larousse), eccles. L. scandalizāre.] tr.

1. To discredit, bring shame upon. c1552 Lynd. Mon. 4954.
