(Questiounarie,) Questionarie, -y, adj. [e.m.E. questionary having the form of a question (1653).] Only in questionarie tryall, one of the oral tests or examinations to be undergone by a candidate for the ministry (see quot. 1690).See also Bk. Disc. 189–90 and Alford Rec. 402 n. 8.Appar. only in the north-east and Perthshire. Not recorded in this sense after 1715. 1650 Cramond Ch. Aberdour 23.
Mr. William Ramsay having delivered his controversie sustained his tryells and given his questionarie tryell and all things according to the act of the General Assembly … is approven in all and declared fitt and able to exercise the function of the ministrie in the parochin of Aberdour

He is likewise obliged to answer (ex tempore) any question in divinity that shall be proposed to him by any member of the presbytery. This is called the questionary tryal
