Quarter-man, n. a. In Prestwick: ? = Quarter-maister n. 1 a and b. b. pl. Those serving in the militia of the ‘quarter’ of the kingdom (Quarter n. 6 c) which is providing the militia on active service at the time. —a. 1502 Prestwick B. Rec. 37.
