Maugré, Magré, Mauger, Magir, prep. Also: mawgré, maugrie, magra, -rawe, -ry, -rie; maugur, mawgir, mouger. [ME. maugre (c 1264) mawgrey, magre, magrat (14th c.), e.m.E. magry, OF. maugré, malgré. Cf. Maugré,n. and Malgré.] In spite of, despite, notwithstanding; notwithstanding the opposition of, in face of.
