Dispitously, -uously, -wisly, adv. Also: despitteously, despyteously. (For other forms see the adj.) [ME. dispitously, dyspetusly (c 1320), dispitiously, etc., f. Dispitousadj.] a. Scornfully, insultingly. b. Spitefully, maliciously, cruelly.(a) 1375 Barb. i. 200.
