Brigantine, -yne, n. Also: brigin-, bregatyne, briggantene; brikcanetyne, brekanetyne, brekatene; brigit-, brigattanis. [e.m.E. brigandine, -yne, ME. bregardyn, brigaundyne (c 1456), brigantyn, OF. brigandine.] A form of body-armour; a brigandine. Occas. a pair of brigantinis. 1459 Exch. R. VI. 496.
