I. 307/14 (he besegit Rome). 1513 Doug. iii. i. 96 (quhen he saw the town besegyt all about). Ib. xi. vii. 21 (for to bysege the wallys of our toun). a1578 Pitsc. I. 141/1 (he beseigit the castell thairof). 1622-6 Bisset II. 428/13 (King Edwarde caused besaige the toun).
