Prol. 85 and vi. 1054 (R) is evidently due to a misreading of baptysme as baptysine.c1500-c1512 Dunb. xxxiii. 9 Asl. (fra baptising [B. baptasing] for till eschewe). 1558 Q. Kennedy Tractive 168 (baptising of barnis). 1572-5 Diurn. Occurr. 102 (the bapteising of our prince). 1581 Acts III. 221/2 (that na banquettis salbe eftir babtizing of bairnis). 1621 Ib. IV. 597/1 (the baptezing of infantis).
