Ȝo(u)ngast, -est, Ȝungaste, -est(e, superl. adj. Also: yhongast, -est, youngast, -est, yhungast, -est, younest. [ME and e.m.E. ȝungeste (Layamon), ȝingest (Cursor M.), yongest (1390), youngest (1596).] Youngest in sense 1 of Ȝo(u)ng adj. a. Among the members of a family. Also ellipt. and absol. b. Among other groups of persons.a. a1400 Leg. S. xxvi 133.
