STUMMER, v. To stumble, stagger (Ork. 1929 Marw., Ork. 1971). Obs. exc. dial. in Eng. Deriv. stumral, apt to stumble, unsure-footed, of a horse (Sc. 1825 Jam., s.v. strummal), phs. more correctly a variant of stammeral s.v. Stammer.Ork. 1904 Dennison Sketches 11:
He ga'e me a bux on de breest 'at ca'd me stummeran' tae the ither side o' the street.
