SLINGER, n.1 [′slɪŋər]

1. A sausage, gen. in pl. (Inv., ne.Sc., e. and wm. Sc. 1970).Ags. 1958 People's Jnl. (5 April):
And then, on every Sabbath morn, Mince, slingers, the menu wa'd adorn.

2. A spent salmon (Mry. 1930 Fishery Board Gl.); a thin cod out of condition (e.Sc. Ib.).

3. In pl.: bread sops boiled in milk and served as a kind of sweet (Bnff., Abd. 1970).Abd. 1957 Huntly Express (28 June):
It'll be slingers tae the supper again the morn's nicht.
