RIGGIN, n.2 A contemptuous term for a woman (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl.); a tall, ungainly person (Sh. 1904 E.D.D., ‡Sh. 1968).
[Orig. uncertain. The form rigga is sim. used in Sh. Norn as a scornful term of address to a woman, poss. an extended use of rigga s.v. Rig, n.1, 2. Cf. also †Eng. rig, a wanton woman, phs. the same word as Rig, n.2]You may wish to vary the format shown below depending on the citation style used.
