PETTY, adj. Also pettie-, pitti-, petit (Sc. 1752 Caled. Mercury (10 March)). Sc. usages in combs.: †1. pettypan, a small metal pan or mould used for pastry (Rxb. 1825 Jam., pettie-). Dial. in Eng.; 2. pettie-point, a type of stitch in sewing similar to that used in tapestry-work (Rxb. 1825 Jam.).1. Sc. 1715 Ho. Bk. Lady G. Baillie (S.H.S.) 185:
