LEEPIE, n. Also lipi (Jak.). An indoor refuse-dump, lined with a floss mat and usually dug out in a corner of the living-room floor (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), Sh. 1961, obs.). See Rudistag.

[Orig. somewhat uncertain. The form has been assimilated to, if not ult. derived from, Lippie (see note s.v.). Cf. also Norw. dial. løypa, a mud-hole, a heap of pig-swill.]
