EGGLE, v. Also iggle (Mry. 1919 T.S.D.C. III.; Mry.1 1925). To incite, egg on, stir up, to quarrel (Ork. 1929 Marw.; Ork.2 1948); “commonly applied to what is evil” (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 43; Bnff.2 1943). Cf. Eickel, id. Also of weather: to worsen, threaten to become stormy (Ork. 1975).Ork. 1880 Dennison Sketch-Bk. 112:
Though weel kent he or he began 'Twad eggle ap her anger.
Ork. 1930:
