[Delicht appears in O.Sc. as n. in 1635 and in 1637 as v., being a late variant of delyte. Mid.Eng. delit was supplanted in Eng. in the 16th cent. by delight, an erroneous form, based on analogy with light, flight, etc., and the Sc. variant followed on the analogy of licht for Eng. light.]
