BLUMELT, Bluemelt, v. and n. [′bluməlt]
1. v. “To hurt, strike so that coagulated blood appears under the skin” (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), blumelt; 1914 Angus Gl.).Sh.7 1935:
I managed ta bluemelt my finger wi a stane yesterday whin I wis caain' doon da coo's stake.
2. n. “A discolouration of the skin caused by a stroke which bruises the blood but does not break the skin” (Sh. 1914 Angus Gl.).
