AMISSING, amissinadj., orig. a phr., but used like ppl.adj. in pred. Missing, wanting. (Chiefly in Sc. writers. N.E.D.) Cf. Awanting.Sc. 1754 Erskine Princ. Law Scot. (1820) 466:
An action for proving the tenor, whereby a writing, which is destroyed or amissing, is endeavoured to be revived, is in effect declaratory.
Sc. 1881 A. Mackie Scotticisms 24:
The dog is amissing.
Edb. 2003:
Whit a panic when the bairn wis amissing.
Gsw. 1990:
There's wan amissin fae the pack o cairds.
Ayr. 1989:
