ALSE, adv.1 Also.Sc. 1702 Records of a Sc. Cloth Manuf. [Hdg.] (S.H.S. 1905) 291:
To foruard the light blews and alse to make 2nd and 3rd cast thereof betuixt 6 and 9 ends.
Lnk. 1715 Minutes J.P.'s Lnk. (S.H.S. 1931) 155:
The saids persons . . . qualified and did take and swear the oath of allegiance. . . . And alse the said James Carmichaell, clerk foresaid, qualified and did take and swear the said oath of allegiance.

[Common in O.Sc. Shortened form of alsua, alswa, O.Nhb. allsuā, W.S. eall swā, “all-so,” also.]
