ADMIRALITY, ADMIRALTY, n.

1. Sc. law: High Court of Admirality, in which the High Admiral of Scotland exercised an extensive jurisdiction both civil and criminal. Jurisdiction abolished 1830. (A.C.M.)Sc. 1681 Act of Parl. in Alexander's Abridgement of Acts Parl. Scot. (1841) 318, 319:
His Majesty . . . declares that the High Court of Admirality is a supreme Court.

2. Admirality occas. = St.Eng. Admiralty.Lth. 1925 C. P. Slater Marget Pow 147:
She'll likely be conneckit with the Admirality, or mebbe the Navy.
