Assith, Assyth, n. Also: asseth, assecht; asith, asyth, assythe, assytht. [Northern ME. asith, assithe (15th c.), for earlier aseth, aseeth, asseth(e, OF. aset, asset, var. of asez, assez enough, late L. ad satis. The reason for the change of vowel from e to i is not obvious.] Satisfaction, esp. for wrong or injury; reparation, compensation.(a) 1386 Rotuli Sc. II. 85/2.
