Addict, v. [e.m.E. (1560), f. L. addict-, addīcere to assign.] refl. To attach or addict (oneself) to something. —1558 Q. Kennedy Tractive 105 (mony that addictis thame selfis to the wickit opinioun). 1563 Davidson Answer 245 (that thay walde addict thaim self to ony special kirk). 1562-3 Winȝet I. 77/15 (sen we addict our selfis to the doctrine of na man).
